1. we avoid all the campsites used by the standard 4 day trip hence generally the one's we use are nearly empty

2. During the day's trekking we don't see many if any of the other groups giving it a far more relaxed and wilderness experience.

3. We arrive at Machu Picchu on day 4 and although we don't actually visit it that day we do walk through it before catching the bus down to Machu Picchu Pueblo and a lovely hotel for the night.

4. On day 5 after a good nights' sleep in a comfortable hotel bed we have a full day in the ruins of Machu Picchu this ensures that everybody gets as much time as they want to wonder around and explore this modern wonder of the world. We return in the afternoon in the Vistadome train back to Cusco, a very relaxed and enjoyable way to finish the Inca trail. 

On a normal 4 day trek you have to walk for 2 hours to get to Machu Picchu then a quick tour round before catching the afternoon train back to Ollantaytambo and a bus transfer to Cusco.
