2012 - We are all here in Cusco getting ready for the new season as always we are trying to improve our services and run training courses for our staff. New equipment has arrived including our new tents Uureka Timberline SQ - now you get a 4 man tent between two of you, camping tables and Thermarest matress's.
March 14 and 15 we are running a course for all the cooking staff, we have invited gourmet chef Miguel Lozano in to demonstate some special sauces and dishes utilising local ingredients. The cooks have from this developed a new menu that they are happy ccoking in the field after all what works in a fully kiited out kitchen is not always practical in a tent in the middle of the the Inca trail.
April 13,14,15 - Our annual Whitewater Rescue course for all the rafting and kayaking crew, although the certificate is valid for 3 years, every year we do it we learn something new.
With 2011 finished we would like to give a big thank you to all those who have joined with us to enjoy the delights of Peru. We would like to thank our staff for an excellent job and hopefully a good holiday before the 2012 season starts. Of course the sales team will not be having much of a holiday but will be on hand to answer your holiday enquiries and take your bookings.
Paul Cripps and Carol Thomas after spending the early part of the year are back in Cusco but can be contacted by email by clicking on the contact us link above.

The biggest news here at Amazonas Explorer is the partnership we've created with Gravity Peru S.A. to form the Cusco Adventure Team. This new division of Amazonas Explorers is dedicated to orginising short adventure tours based around the Sacred Valley. Combining the knowledge of Gravity Peru and it's 60+Kona double suspension $2000+ mountain bikes with Amazonas expert knowledge of whitewater rafting and duckying we're dedicated to offering high quality short adventures for those who wish to get a bit more out of their visit to Peru. Soon to come will be the Cusco Adventure Team website.
For 2010 we have a number of new trips we hope you like. We have decided to take Lima and the internal flights out of all our trips as we have found more and more of you are arriving into Lima very early morning and being able to connect straight onto your destination, thus saving both tim, money and the hassle of an overnight in Lima. If, however, your flight arrives in Lima in the afternoon, let us know and we can organise transfers and a variety of hotels to suit all budgets. If you are arriving late at night, there’s a hotel right beside the airport we can book for you which makes for easy transfers and very little time wasted.

If you have more time, Lima is a fascinating city with amazing museums, history and the best sea food and gourmet cuisine in South America – just let us know if you want a recommendation for a great meal out and the nightlife is truly awesome too!
In 2009 Amazonas Explorer were the proud sponsors (and participants) of “Below and Beyond Machu Picchu” in which a team of expert kayakers completed the first descent of the Rio Concebidayoc, nearby the rarely visited Espiritu Pampa ruins. We are now offering a new trip with a chance to trek to these amazing ruins – The very last city of the Incas and one that receives less than 250 visitors a year (roughly what Machu Picchu gets every hour!). Be amongst the first to experience this amazing trek. Contact us for more details.
We have just finished a recce of our new “Titicaca to Machu Picchu - Backroads of the Andes” bike ride and we have to say it is going to be an epic. Amazing scenery, deserted roads, llamas, Alpacas, awesome single tracks, Monster climbs and generally has the feel of a real wilderness adventure. Contact us for more details.
Finally we have also just come back from visiting a new Jungle lodge option on the Rio de las Piedras. If you are looking for a true wildlife and wilderness experience and can afford 4 – 5 days (or more if you are an avid birdwatcher), this could well be the lodge you are looking for. Contact us for more details.
Amazonas Explorer is proud to have become The Peruvian representative of a new association called ATLAS – Active Travel Latin American Specialists – a grouping of the very finest owner operated adventure travel companies in Central and South America. So if you are looking for another unique destination to visit and want some trust worthy advice about who to travel with, Contact us for more details.
Here’s hoping 2010 will be great year for everyone and that we can help you fulfil your dreams and show you this beautiful country and continent we call home.
